Winter & Spring Fishing

There's nothing like hooking a sea bright Winter Steelhead. The rivers of Vancouver Island are flowing larger than average during this season, drawing in these fish from the ocean from late November through till April. There are highlights throughout the season in specific watersheds with the proper water conditions that will reward you with the greatest sports fish Vancouver Island has to offer.

Steelhead

We like to use two handed rods and large flies to search out these fish, and often float several kilometres river a day through remote areas to find Bright waters with bright fish. We will then move north to the Skeena region during late April through May for the same fish that arrive in spring season. Similar waters as Vancouver Island with the same style fishing can produce some of the largest coastal Steelhead BC has to offer. In the mix of this Spring season there is also early spring salmon arriving which are willing to take the same flies. This can be a massive surprise while swinging for Steelhead.

Trout

On occasion while fly-fishing Vancouver Island you will encounter Sea-Run Cutthroat while searching for steelhead, these fish are feisty and quite aggressive to the fly! Our winter / spring steelhead & trout enter the rivers between Nov - May. We fish many rivers including the Gold, Salmon & Nimpkish. Spring time also brings excellent lake fishing for trout as an option when visiting.
